Friendly Reminder: Are You Drinking Enough Water?

Hey all! Hope you’re having a great week so far. We’re here to give a little friendly reminder to stay hydrated! If you’ve been following us for awhile, then you know how much we LOVE our water at G-Plans. We wanted to pop in to check to see how you’re hitting that water goal!

Are you drinking enough water?

Remember whether you’re a high performing athlete or just a casual walker, you still need to be drinking enough water every day. An easy way to make sure you’re drinking enough is first calculating how much you need. In general, you should aim for a minimum of at least half your body weight in ounces for your water intake. For example, if a person weighs 120 pounds, they should aim for at least 60 ounces of water a day to start. If you’re trying to get a gold star in hydration, aim for your weight in ounces! So in this example, 120 ounces of water per day. It may seem like a lot, but with practice, fruit infusions and starting early we promise meeting that goal will become a regular habit.

Are you drinking consistently?

It is not enough to meet your water goal once in awhile. You should be aiming to do this every day. However, if your water goal seems way too much to meet every day, start small! In fact, taking on too much at once doesn’t create a healthy habit that will last. First begin by working with what you know you can maintain every day. Consistently drinking water is the first way to start towards that big goal, but is also more impactful on your body than meeting your goal only a few times a week. Staying hydrated all week long will encourage your body to retain less water, which means you’ll feel less bloated and more alert. Consistent hydration is also the key to maintaining a stable body temperature, which means all the cells are working their most efficient to lose weight!

Are you spreading it out throughout the day?

This is an important question to be asking yourself. Don’t be that person who waits until the end of the day and chugs all the water they needed. For one, that’s just cruel to do to yourself. Nothing is worse than having to wake up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, all because you drank a liter of water before bed. Spread out your water intake throughout the day. This will prevent the middle of the night trips to the bathroom, as well as will meet your daily goal much easier. Starting your day with a glass of water sets you up to stay hydrated throughout the day, rather than waiting until you’re thirsty or out of time to down a glass.

Staying hydrated is just as important as eating nutrient-dense foods when you’re trying to lose weight. If you’re not drinking enough water, your body naturally will feel more sluggish and bloated. You’re body might be resistant to shedding pounds without hydration, so make sure your sticking to your water goal and maintaining that habit!
