Life happens. Occurrences that bump you off track are more common than not. Going on a week long vacation, getting sick, or running into a super busy schedule are usually the things that really test your dedication. In hand, it is likely to feel feelings of regret, guilt, defeat, or simply lack feelings of motivation. However, falling off track isn’t the problem here -because sometimes that inevitable-but it is how you handle the chain of events after.
Don’t beat yourself up
Don’t dwell on those things you can’t change! For whatever reason you fell deficit in moving forward with your goal, this doesn’t dictate how your future actions pan out. Call it a hiccup or a bump in the road, but whatever you do, don’t handle it like a dead end. Remind yourself that you are in control of your actions and you are powerful.
Make 3 small goals
Emphasis on the SMALL: making small goals allows you to hit milestones more quickly than you would if you made one big goal with a long timeline. With small goals, you can feel a sense of accomplishment every time you reach one. This allows you to continue to challenge yourself and most importantly, keep yourself engaged and excited. In combination, 3 small changes in different aspects of your lifestyle can make a big progressive step to reach that main goal.
Make a plan and prepare
Now that you have your motivation and 3 goals locked and loaded, now it’s time to make a plan. How are you going to accomplish those goals? Whether it’s grocery shopping, reinstating a gym membership, increasing water intake, or meal prepping, having a to-do list is key to making sure you are prepared to make progressive strides forward.
DO IT
Last but definitely not least, turn your hard work of preparation into actions. If you meal prepped, take your lunch to work and eat it; if you reinstated your gym membership, go at least 3 times a week. Not only will these actions push you closer to your goal, but it is essential to keeping yourself motivated and dedicated. Realizing the power you have over your actions is life changing, literally.
Don’t fall into a rut of feeling bad about yourself because you simply fell of track. Trust us, it has happened to the best of us. Just keep your head in the game and your eye on the prize
