It may be fair to say that the majority of us know the importance of water and the essential role it plays in weight loss, digestion, skin integrity, and overall health. With this in mind, some of us can still struggle with finding ways to keep us up to par with reaching a water goal each day. You are probably wondering how you can possibly drink all that water in one day? Don’t worry; we’ve got you covered with these easy tips to help you hit that water goal:
In Sight, In Mind
Getting in the habit of taking your water bottle with you wherever you go is KEY. Whether you’re at work, school, exercising, running errands, or simply hanging at home, keep your water by your side. This will serve as a reminder to keep those sips consistent throughout the entire day. Additionally, keep a water glass by your bedside to help you remember to drink a tall glass first thing each morning. Finding a water bottle to suit your needs can be quite simple these days – whether it’s an insulated bottle that keeps your water cold, a bottle with a straw top, or a bottle with a comfortable handle, you are likely to find one perfect for you.
Start Your Day with 8oz. – 10oz.
Putting that coffee on hold momentarily first thing in the morning and opting for water instead is a great way to jumpstart your metabolism and rehydrate your body after a night of rest. Not only will this make you feel more energized, but it knocks off 8 oz. – 10oz of your daily water goal – giving you a head start first thing each morning. To boost your metabolism even more, add a few lemon slices; the acidity in the lemon helps your body flush out toxins more readily by stimulating enzyme function.
Infuse your water
We get it; water may not be the most exciting beverage out there, but try infusing your water with your favorite fruits, vegetables, or herbs. Adding in slices of citrus, slices of cucumber, a handful of berries, or a sprig of mint will be sure to make your water far from boring. Don’t have the time to slice? Make some fruit infused ice cubes the night before to add to your water the next day. Simply cut small portions of your favorite fruit and place them in an ice cube tray with water.
Mark Your Water Bottle
Make little reminders or marks on the side of your water to help you achieve little goals throughout the day. Hitting your daily amount of water may look daunting at first, but by setting little goals like this will make it much more manageable. Choose your times according to your own schedule. For example, make a line to drink a certain amount of water by 8AM and another by 2PM. This is a great visual reminder for you to keep hydrated. You can do this yourself or perhaps buy a marked water bottle.
